Central Subway employees hired through the First Source program

All applicants seeking employment on the SFMTA’s Central Subway Project should first register at one of the One Stop Career Link Centers hosted by the Office of Economic and Workforce Development (OEWD). The OEWD facilitates recruitment for the SFMTA’s construction and professional services employment opportunities. Please review this list of contacts and One Stop Centers (PDF) for more information about locations near you.

Applicants interested in construction-related employment opportunities with the Central Subway Project will be directed to CityBuild (see below).

Applicants interested in professional services positions will be directed to the First Source Hiring Program (see below).

First Source Hiring

Under the First Source Hiring Program, entry-level trainee positions will be created and will continue through the duration of the project. However, all trainee positions will be hired for a 12-month period. We expect that this experience will train and prepare First Source Hire participants for future employment opportunities in the construction industry.

First Source hire Marlon WashingtonName: Marlon Washington
Position: Document Control Assistant
Hiring Program: First Source

Bio: A native San Franciscan, Marlon studied at City College and SF State, where he majored in business administration. He joined the Central Subway Project through the First Source Hiring Program, which was recommended to him by representatives at JobsNow. He filled out an application and there was no wait list!

When asked what his goals at his new position were, Marlon replied, "To make notable contributions to the Document Control Department and transition into a knowledgeable and valuable document control assistant manager."

 

First Source hire Robert Pierce

Name: Robert Pierce
Position: Multimedia and Graphic Designer
Hiring Program: First Source

Bio: After moving to the Bay Area from Oregon in 2000, Robert studied Architectural Design and Film Production at City College and SF State. He joined the project through the First Source Hiring Program.

When asked what his goals at his new position were, Robert replied, "To contribute to the quality work of the Central Subway Project's Public Outreach Team by designing, producing and managing a wide variety of materials and social media."
